Elisa Sorrenti received the Foundation ACTERIA Award 2026 for the Best Oral Presentation in Translational Science at the SSAI Annual Congress and Swiss Autoimmune Liver Disease Meeting, held in Lugano, Switzerland, in 2026.
Her award-winning presentation, “Intratumoral microbiota and host genotype cooperatively shape neutrophil cytotoxic functions in colorectal cancer,” highlights the complex interplay between the tumor microbiota, host genetic background, and immune cell function in colorectal cancer. The work investigates how intratumoral microbial communities and host genotype jointly influence the cytotoxic activity of neutrophils within the tumor microenvironment, offering new insights into the regulation of anti-tumor immune responses. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of tumor–immune interactions and may pave the way toward the identification of novel therapeutic approaches targeting the tumor microenvironment.
