Best Flash Poster presentation by a young scientist at the 4th Symposium EVIta, Favignana, Italy, 24-26.09.2025

Institute for Translational Research USI-EOC

Giorgia Senesi was awarded the first Flash Poster presentation by a young scientist at the Symposium EVIta held in Favignana, Italy, September 24th-26th, 2025.

The Poster “miR-24-3p Regulates Cardiac Fibroblast Activation via Cardiomyocyte-Derived Extracellular Vesicles: New Insights into Human Cardiac Fibrosis” presents the role of miR-24-3p, a microRNA secreted by cardiomyocytes in extracellular vesicles, in regulating cardiac fibrosis. The findings show that when delivered, miR-24-3p inhibits fibrotic processes, suggesting that it acts as a protective signal from cardiomyocytes to limit fibrosis and potentially contribute to healthier cardiac remodeling. The study’s use of both in vitro and ex vivo human patient-derived models underscores its innovative approach and highlights its significant translational relevance for cardiac research.
